UChicago at the Baltimore Symphony for Impressionist Masterworks
Experience a special performance of Debussy and Raval accompanied by an explanation of what to listen for in the pieces
BSO conductor Marin Alsop will lead the audience through Debussy’s La Mer and Raval’s La Valse. Her narrative will include history about the time, place and composer as well as a breakdown of the pieces into their component parts. For example, she may talk about and have the orchestra play certain features and then have the orchestra play then in context. Off the Cuff performances like these are great ways to learn about and get introduced to various pieces of classical music!
Registration for tickets closes on January 12th at 4pm CT. If you are unable to secure your tickets before this date and time, please contact the Baltimore Symphony directly to purchase tickets and ask to sit near our group.
Following the performance, the BSO will host an after-party in the lobby with music (by Orchester Prazevica) food (Dooby’s) and gin specials. Our UChicago group will plan to attend this as well!
